Dr. Shireen Rahimi is an underwater storyteller, marine scientist, National Geographic Explorer, and the founder of Lightpalace Productions.

Since completing her PhD in marine science from the University of Miami, she has traveled across the globe showcasing humanity’s impact on the planet’s rapidly changing waters—from the seas of the Caribbean to the Coral Triangle.

With her expertise in writing, directing, underwater camera operation, and science communication, Shireen focuses on one of the earliest and most significant ecological casualties of global warming: tropical coral reefs.

She has been featured as a contributor on National Geographic Sharkfest and ABC’s Localish, and was named the International SeaKeepers Association Next Gen Awardee and a Nautica Wavemaker. She has created work for The Nature Conservancy, National Geographic, Oceana, PBS, Jane Goodall Institute, and film festivals around the world.

With her work, Shireen hopes to uplift the marginalized voices of the oceans, telling emotional, character-driven stories that encourage action on behalf of our planet.
